Why Should you Care?

By keeping children healthy and allowing them to prosper and go to school, we’re helping families avoid the catastrophic cost of TB. Evidence shows that over the long run, treating latent TB will reduce the tremendous burden which TB disease places on overstretched healthcare systems.

According to the WHO, TB costs the world over $21 billion each year – a figure that could be more than halved if we treated all cases of latent TB.

About Latent TB Testing

Who should be tested?
  • Contacts of people with TB.
  • People from countries where TB is common.
  • People with health problems that make it hard to fight TB.
  • People who spend time in places where TB is common.
What to expect
  • A skin or blood test can find TB infection.
  • Treatment for Latent TB is a shorter regimen. Patients take one does, once a week for 12 weeks.
  • Treating Latent TB is much less costly —less than a tenth of the cost of treating active TB.
